File Clerk / HIM / PT
Performs scanning of patient information in a timely and accurate manner, assuring that all information is scanned into the correct patient and accurate account in a legible and correct fashion. Performs and coordinates requests for release of protected health information in compliance with HIPAA and state law requirements. Serves as receptionist for the Department. Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. College background in health information technology or medical field preferred. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills and possess a high level of integrity, ethics, and quality work habits. Must be familiar with the electronic work environment and have proper knowledge of the use of copiers, scanners, printers, and fax machines. Must have excellent customer service skills as well as professional behavior. Must possess the ability to work well with others using tact and diplomacy to deal with physicians, employees, and public. Must have the ability to sit and maintain focused concentration for long periods of time. Must be knowledgeable of HIPPA and state laws as they pertain to protected health information.
